Note: Banner Introduction (GEN 300) is a prerequisite for most Banner courses.

Undergraduate Admissions Decisions (SIS 384)

Target Audience: Intended for undergraduate admission officers and central admissions office/unit staff.
Prerequisites: None

Description:
This course covers all the forms and processes for entering undergraduate admissions decisions. This includes assigning the decision, updating all the associated forms, and how to access and generate automatic decision letters.

Degree Evaluation and Graduation (SIS 321)

Target Audience: Intended for Central Student Affairs Staff (in the Faculties and Enrolment Services).
Prerequisites: Banner Introduction (GEN 300); Grades, GPA and Academic Standing (OLC - SIS 305)

Description:
As students complete their program requirements and apply for graduation, Student Affairs staff need to review the courses they have taken and approve their request in order for them to appear on the convocation list. The degree evaluation report is a tool that is often used by advisors to help students choose courses according to their program requirements. Additionally, it provides a means for Student Affairs staff to evaluate whether a student has successfully completed their program requirements for graduation. This course will introduce the degree record in Banner and the degree evaluation report in Minerva, as well as go over the approval process and the process of adding awards and honors to graduating students.

Timetabler DCU Training for Class Scheduling Administrators (SIS 397)

Target Audience: Class Scheduling Administrators
Prerequisites: Catalog & Schedule Updating (OLC – SIS 393)
Duration: 2.5 hours
Course format: In-class (offered in conjunction with Enrolment Services)

Description:

This course is offered every Fall. The schedule and time offerings are coordinated with Enrolment Services. This course introduces staff with class scheduling responsibilities within their academic unit to the Timetabler Data Collection Utility (DCU). Timetabler is the central class scheduling software at McGill University. The DCU is a web-based module that interfaces with Timetabler that eases the collection of departmental scheduling information and ensures that departmental users are submitting information in a common and consistent format.

Student Data Warehouse Reporting - Crystal Reports (SIS 317)

Target Audience: Intended for anyone who needs to generate reports that are not available in the Minerva environment.
Prerequisites: Getting Started with Crystal Reports (OFT 700), attendee must have access to the Student Data Warehouse

Online Learning Courses (OLC)

Updating Student Accounts (OLC - SIS 301)

Target Audience: Intended for student account staff and departmental staff required to enter charges on Student Accounts.
Prerequisites: Banner Introduction (GEN 300); Viewing Student Accounts (OLC -SIS 394)

Description:
This online course covers the necessary concepts required to update a student's account. In this course, you will be shown how to enter charges and correct errors on a student's account. You will also be shown how to review your transactions at the end of the day and close your cashiering session.

Target Audience: Intended for central student affairs staff, such as Faculty offices and central units, responsible for approving course grades, and making grade and standing changes in Academic History.
Prerequisites: Banner Introduction (GEN 300); Registration and Student Records (OLC -SIS 388)

Introduction to Undergraduate Admissions (OLC - SIS 379) 

Target Audience: Intended for Program Secretaries/Coordinators, Enrolment Services and Faculty Admissions staff who handle undergraduate admissions.

When undergraduate applicants submit an application to McGill, all the submitted information will be uploaded to Banner. This course covers the undergraduate admission process from both the student and the staff perspective, viewing the admissions data and supporting documents, and updating the application checklist and school information.

Transfer Credits (OLC - SIS 381)

Target Audience: Intended for Central Student Affairs Staff (in the Faculties and Enrolment Services).
Prerequisites: Banner Introduction (GEN 300); Grades, GPA and Academic Standing (OLC - SIS 305)

Description:
When a student takes a course at another institution ─ either before being admitted to a program, or during the course of their studies ─ if eligible, these courses can be applied to the student's program. The student may receive credits for the course, or an exemption with no added credits. These are added as transfer credits or exemptions on a student’s record. This course, delivered online, covers transfer credit concepts, as well as how to interpret, delete or apply transfer credits to a student’s record.

Updating Student Records (OLC - SIS 389)

Target Audience: Intended only for those staff responsible for making changes to a student's registration and academic record.

Description:
This online course provides an overview of catalog and schedule information, viewable in Banner and on Minerva. It outlines the procedures and most policies related to scheduling course sections. Class scheduling generally means determining the number of sections or instances of each course being offered in a given term and creating or updating sections to meet the registration requirements. Tasks include specifying section enrollment, designating meeting times and locations assigning instructors and specifying any additional registration criteria.

Viewing Student Accounts (OLC - SIS 394)

Target Audience:
new Accounts Receivable staff and any staff member required to answer questions about student accounts.
