IT Services provides high speed network service to users at the downtown campus, Macdonald campus, the Gault Estate, and the Montreal Neurological Institute (MNI).
McGill faculty, staff, students, and affiliates.
In McGill Residences only the wireless network is supported. See Wireless connectivity in REZ.
How to request a network data jack
All requests for network jacks must be submitted using the Work Order System, preferably by the departmental Local Area Network (LAN) Administrator. If you do not know who this is, you can consult the Telephone Coordinator list.
Accessing the McGill network
When the computer you are working on (i.e. in your office, at a campus lab, or a public workstation in the Libraries) has a network connection, you can log in to the McGill network using your McGill Username and McGill Password.
Prices vary according to product.
Network data jack requests will be processed during regular office hours (Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.).
Access to the McGill network is available 24 X 7, except during scheduled and unscheduled maintenance. Check the home page of the IT Support site for announcements regarding service interruptions.
If a Network data jack has not been used over a period of 12 months or more, the port can be deactivated and recovered by default.
