Target audience: McGill students, staff, and faculty
This article provides instructions for configuring wireless network access on macOS.
Follow the steps below to connect to one of McGill's wireless networks with your McGill Username and Password.
In this example, we will be connecting to the wpa.mcgill.ca network.
Before setting up your WiFi Protected Access (WPA) connection, ensure you have installed the latest macOS updates.
- Click on the control center menu.
- Select Wi-Fi.

- From the Other networks section, select one of the following:
- wpa.mcgill.ca (secure WiFi on campus and in residences)
- eduroam (reserved for members of the eduroam service: non-McGill users visiting McGill and McGill users visiting another institution)
- wpa.bus.mcgill.ca (on inter-campus shuttle buses)
- CUSM-MUHC.MCGILL.CA (in some areas of the MUHC [McGill University Health Centre])
Note: If you do not see this option and wish to request the installation of a new MUHC wireless access point, please contact MUHC Information Services at 514-934-8484.
- Enter your McGill Username and Password in the next window, then click Join.

- A Verify Certificate screen may appear. If you want to view the certificate, click Show Certificate.

- Verify that the Always trust "wireless-login.mcgill.ca" checkbox is selected and click Continue.

- In the next window, the User Name field automatically displays the name you use to log into your Mac computer. Next, enter the Password you use to log into your computer.

You should now be connected. If not, try to create a wireless profile on your Mac manually create a wireless profile on your Mac.
