McGill's campus software program includes a wide range of software applications for use by the community.
In this article:
- Available software - includes who is eligible to use it, how to get it, and support information
- Additional references - includes related resources for software and links to help make content accessible for all users
Notes:
- For assistance installing software on this list, please contact the IT Service Desk.
- For support using the software, see the vendor's support links provided.
- The term "Faculty," used below, includes Professors Emeriti with an appointment.
- Important: To free up storage space, please delete any older, unused software versions. New software installations do not always remove older versions automatically, so you may need to uninstall them yourself.
Tip for faculty, staff, and researchers:
If you would like McGill to provide a specific software or cloud service, first verify that we don't already have an approved cloud solution that meets your needs. See McGill Approved and Rejected Cloud solutions. If no solution meets your needs, please submit a request via the Software or cloud service acquisition webform.

| Endpoint protection for work computers | Faculty, Staff Endpoint protection software is installed on McGill-managed work computers and computers in public areas on campus. | We recommend that all McGill students, faculty, and staff members install antivirus software on their personal devices or use the antivirus protection that comes with their devices. |

Faculty, Staff Students Limited to students working on a thesis or special project. Must be sponsored by a professor or a McGill staff member. Any other use of the survey tool will be denied. See the LimeSurvey Service description in the next column to request access to the tool. |

| SPSS Statistical Software | Students, Faculty, Staff Download from the Software Licensing site. SPSS can be installed on systems owned by faculty, staff, and students for teaching and non-commercial academic research. |

| Toad for Oracle (Quest Software) | Faculty, Staff Access to the software is subject to approval. Please contact the service owner and provide the department, description of need, and usage details. Tool for Oracle Application Developers, more widely known as Toad for Oracle, is part of a toolset for managing relational and non-relational databases using SQL. It is aimed at database developers, database administrators, and data analysts. |
For software-related issues, please contact Quest. The software license agreement between McGill and Quest is valid until June 27, 2026, and does not extend to any installation on personal devices. This license agreement covers using the Base Edition and Database Admin Module. |
