Minerva menus for Students, Guests and Applicants


OVERVIEW

Target audience: Students, Guests making payments on behalf of a student, prospective students applying at McGill

Minerva is a user-friendly web interface to McGill's central database, available to applicants, students and their designated guests.

To access Minerva, you need to log in using either your McGill ID and PIN, or McGill Username and McGill Password as described in Minerva for Students and Guests.

Once logged in, the Student and Guest menus are visible to their respective audiences. In addition, the Personal and Applicant menus are visible to all students and guests.

Menu

Description

Student

The Student menu (and its sub-menus) are only visible if you have a student record at McGill. These menus allow you to:
  • Register for, add, or drop courses.
  • Request transfers to different programs or faculties.
  • View citizenship- and residency-related information.
  • View unofficial transcripts and request official transcripts.
  • View and pay e-Bills; view Account Summaries; view and print tax receipts; opt out of some student fees; top up your student meal plan.
  • Set up one or more guests, and grant the guests a sliding scale of access privileges to your account information, including the ability to pay your e-Bills.
  • Confirm International Health Insurance coverage and print insurance card.
  • Submit and view course evaluations.
  • Order your reduced-fare OPUS card (See Student OPUS card page for information.
  • Review printing charges & options.
  • Apply for exchange and study away.

Guest

If a student has given you access to their account information, you can:
  • View student's e-Bills, Account Summary and Account Summary by Term.
  • View recent payments, e-Bills, and non-billed Transactions.
  • View student's tax receipts and information.
  • Make online payments on the student's e-Bills.
  • View and print details of Health and Dental Insurance Charges for income tax returns.

Note: The level of guest access is specified by the student. Guests are not permitted to view other parts of the student’s record. For more details, refer to Guest access.

Personal

View McGill username and update password, reset Minerva PIN; set emergency contacts; change address and other personal contact information.

For students only: A name change form allows you to view and modify the way accents, apostrophes, hyphens, periods, blank spaces and case are displayed in the name printed on your official correspondence and McGill records, including your diploma. This form also shows your validated Permanent Code.

The name change form also allows you to enter a Preferred First Name if you commonly use a first name that is different from your legal first name.

Applicant

The Applicant menu allows you to:
  • Apply for admission as a student at McGill (see note below).
  • View your application status
  • Submit self-reported grades and (for applicants from Ontario) submit any available Ontario Universities' Application Centre (OUAC) reference number.
  • Apply for major Undergraduate Entrance Scholarships
  • View the status of Major Renewable Undergraduate Entrance Scholarship candidacy.
  • Respond to award offers.
  • View the status of your student housing application
  • Accept a housing offer and pay deposit.

Financial Aid & Awards

The Financial Aid/Awards menu allows you to:
  • Apply for entrance or in-course financial aid; Update financial aid profile; View status of applications/awards; View loan status; View financial aid and awards; Direct deposit banking information; US Direct Loans.
  • View your awards; Apply for a Major Undergraduate Entrance Scholarship.
  • View details of confirmation of enrolment – Aide financière aux études (AFE) only.
  • Generate a standard proof-of-awards letter confirming your awards for a given academic year (for current and former students). Letters can only be produced for the 2011/2012 Aid (Academic) Year onwards.
  • Apply to defer payment of your current or upcoming tuition and fees.
