Service overview

Audio, video, computer and projection equipment is available for loan.

Equipment loans by appointment only

Please contact us to make an appointment for audiovisual equipment loans. See the Support section below.


Who can use it

McGill faculty, staff, and currently registered students can borrow or rent equipment for McGill related and non-commercial purposes.


How to request & access the service

Reserve equipment in advance of pickup by using the request form, or by calling. Requests are processed on a first-come, first-served basis. Reservations should be made at least two business days in advance.

Submit an online reservation request

Equipment can be borrowed without a reservation if it is available.

Note: Your McGill ID card is required. We reserve the right to limit the quantity of equipment you can borrow.

Cost

Equipment is provided free of charge; however repair or replacement costs will be charged for damaged equipment or missing items. Late equipment returns will be recorded and repeated incidences will affect your ability to borrow equipment in the future.

Frequently asked questions

  1. Can I borrow a laptop?
  2. What are the equipment loan conditions?
    • All prices quoted are subject to change without prior notice.
    • All borrowers must be able to show proof of affiliation with the University. (i.e. valid McGill ID card, payroll stub, hospital ID, etc.)
    • Charges are levied for facilities and services cancelled with less than one working day's notice.
    • The University does not carry insurance on equipment, so clients are responsible for borrowed equipment.
    • Fines are imposed for late return of equipment.
    • IT Services reserves the right to limit the quantity of equipment loaned, and to limit services and loan times for equipment and facilities.

Macdonald campus - Equipment Loans

Hours: By appointment only Monday to Friday, 10:00 am to 12:00 pm (noon) and 2pm to 4pm.
