Target audience: Staff members who need to use Banner forms.
Banner is an Oracle™ enterprise database used by McGill University to store all student, employee and financial data.
This course includes an introduction to the Banner Oracle interface and to its self-serve component, Minerva. It is a prerequisite for all subsequent Banner courses.
GEN 300 - Introduction to Banner

In this course, you will be presented with the following material:
- An overview of Banner
- Banner access and security notes
- Banner naming conventions, definitions of forms and fields
- How to navigate to and through forms using the Banner functions
- Icons, key strokes and short cuts that can be used when navigating
- How to query data using wildcards
- Specific introduction to a number of forms in the General system
- How to verify addresses, phone numbers & emergency contact information for McGill people
- How to customize your Banner Interface using user preferences
- Demonstration of Minerva
