All prepaid cards are non-refundable, non-refillable and non-transferable; once the value is used you must purchase a new card.

Printing costs

Copies are billed based on pages printed, not sheets of paper used.

Checking the balance remaining

To find out the balance left on the card, you need to sign into one of the uPrint machines, using the Username and Password printed on the card. The remaining balance is shown on the Print Release screen. The balance is not updated immediately after each copy/print release operation; you need to log out and back in again to see the updated balance.

Determining uPrint Prepaid card balances can only be done through the uPrint devices. The IT Service Desk and Library staff are unable to assist with such inquiries.

How to send and pick up uPrint jobs using a prepaid card

If you are using a computer in a library or other public area at McGill, you can send a print job directly to the McGill print queues if the following printers are installed/configured on the computer:

When you submit a print job, a Print Job Details popup will appear. Enter the User ID and Password provided on the Prepaid card, then press Print.

If sending a print job to the queue from your personal laptop, you must first install the uPrint driver for Windows, Mac & Linux; keep in mind that in order to use the uPrint drivers off campus, you must be connected to McGill's VPN.
