Add video or animation to your WMS page (Embedding a YouTube video)

Target audience: Site Administrators, Site Managers, Site Editors

You can embed video or animation directly on your Web Management System (WMS) page. This content is embedded within a player that allows users to control the playback.

The WMS currently only supports YouTube for embedding videos.

Embedding a YouTube video

To embed a YouTube video on your page:

  1. In a browser window, open the YouTube video you want to embed and click “SHARE” below the video.
  2. Click “COPY” in the pop-up window to copy the URL of the video.
  3. Navigate to the WMS page where you want to embed the video and click New Draft or Edit Draft.
  4. Position your cursor in the WYSIWYG editor where you want to embed the video. Click the Add media button as you would to add an image or file.
  5. Click on the Web tab and paste the URL of the YouTube video into the field labeled File URL or media resource
  6. Click Submit.
  7. On the next window, click Submit.
  8. When you Save, the YouTube video will appear within the player.  
  9. Be sure to set the Moderation state to Published to make the new content available to the public.


Changing the size of the player for embedded videos

To change the size of the player for a video you have embedded on your page:

  1. Double-click the video icon in the WYSIWYG editor to bring up its image properties.
  2. Change the width and height.
  3. Click OK to confirm the changes.

Displaying the video in the default player size

important

IMPORTANT NOTE:

You must not save the video icon’s image properties in the WYSIWYG editor with the default size of 100px by 100px.

When you double-click the video icon and the width and height in the image properties are both set to 100 x 100, do not click OK. You will end up with the video displaying in a player that is 100 x 100 on the Published page.

If the default size of what is displayed on the Published page is fine and you’ve double-clicked on the icon in the editor, you can simply:

Note: In this version of the WMS, you cannot play multiple videos within the same player.
