OVERVIEW
Target audience: Site Administrators, Site Managers, Site Editors
The McGill Web Management System (WMS) offers a user-friendly "What You See Is What You Get" editor for users to create and edit page content without having to code the page in HTML.

The WYSIWYG toolbar
If a button is greyed out, you must select a portion of text before it will become usable.
General features

- Source: Clicking this button switches the WYSIWYG to the HTML edit view. It is very useful if a page's format is not quite what you expected.
- Insert a horizontal line: Strategically separate your text by adding horizontal lines.
- Insert Special Character: Displays the list of special characters available for insertion in the editor. Clicking on a character from the list will insert it at the cursor position.
- Full screen: Expands the WYSIWYG editor to take up the full browser window. Click it again to return to normal size.
- Templates: Insert pre-dedefined Templates that let you display content in one to five columns, accordions, tabs, or ghost buttons.
- Media browser:
- Upload tab allows you to add an image or other file to your page.
- Web tab allows you to embed a video from YouTube
- Library tab allows you to select a file already uploaded to your site
- Separate the teaser and body of the content: A page on your site may be used to display content previews for your other pages. Visitors are able to review a portion of the content (maximum 600 characters) and click on the title if they are interested in reading the full page / post.

Text formatting
The WYSIWYG includes the usual text formatting, alignment, and indenting buttons that you can find in almost any text editor. It also includes the following additional features, as highlighted in the above screenshot:
- Blockquote: Select a section of text, then press the Blockquote icon. The text will be indented on all sides to set it apart from the rest of your text.
- Text Format dropdown: By default, text uses the Normal style, but you can also select from Headings 2 to 6.

Creating links
Anchors: Give a short, descriptive name to your anchors so you can quickly link to them, where needed.
Links: Simply select the text that you wish to convert into a hyperlink, then click the Link icon. To remove a hyperlink, click the Unlink icon.
For more information about links, see Links in the WMS.

Tables

TIP:
A table should only be used for displaying tabular content. Otherwise, use the pre-defined Templates to arrange content on your pages.
Clicking
Table brings up a Table Properties popup. Choose how many Rows and Columns you want in your table. Optionally, you can select the following:
- Headers: By default, this is set to None. You can choose to have the First Row, First Column, or Both to display using the Header style. If you've already created your table, you can add headers using the Table properties.
- Click in the cell where you want to add the header.
- Right-click and select Table properties.
- Select First Row, First Column, or Both from the Headers dropdown.
- Click OK.
- Caption: If you enter a caption, it will appear at the top of the table.
Once you click OK, your table will appear in the WYSIWYG editor. To modify your table, either select specific cells that you wish to change or place your cursor anywhere in the table then right-click to bring up the table edit pop-up.

WARNING:
Be careful when deleting rows or columns, there is no confirmation message asking you if you are sure if you want to delete. If you accidentally delete a row or column from a table that was on the page before you started making changes, you can always restore a previously saved version of the web page.
