Using the Locker tool in myCourses

In order for the Locker to be accessible, you must Edit the navigation bar to add the Locker link to it.

Lockers are storage areas in myCourses where you can create or upload files. There are two types of lockers:

Note that your instructor must enable the Lockers tool in the course in order for you to use it.

Accessing lockers

You can access the Locker tool using the Locker link on the navigation bar or through the Groups tool.

Accessing lockers using the Locker link

  1. On the Course Home page, click the Locker link on the navigation bar. This will take you to the My Locker page for your personal locker files.

  2. Click Group Lockers to see a list of all group lockers you have access to in the course. This link will only appear if the instructor has created groups in the course and set up lockers for them.
  3. Click the name of a group to access its locker. Instructors can see all groups in the course. Students can only see the groups they are enrolled in.

Accessing lockers using the Groups link

NOTE: The instructor of the course must first create groups and set up lockers for them.

  1. On the Course Home page, click the Groups link on the navigation bar.
  2. On the main Groups page, click the Group Files link beside a group.

    This will take you to the group locker for a specific group.

  3. Click Group Lockers to see a list of all group lockers you have access to in the course.
  4. Click My Locker to access your personal locker files.


Adding locker files and folders

On any Locker page, you can do the following:

Editing a file

  1. Click the arrow beside the name of a file and select Edit.
  2. If the file is a TXT or HTML file, you can edit its contents. If not, you can only edit the Description.
  3. Click Save.

For Group Lockers, the name of the last person to edit the file will appear in the Modified By column on the right side of the page.

Managing locker files and folders

On any Locker page, select the checkbox beside a file and click one of the following:

You can also click the arrow beside the name of a file or folder and Move, Edit, or Delete it.
