Configure your Android device to receive McGill Exchange email


OVERVIEW

Target audience: Anyone using an Android device to access their McGill email.

Follow the instructions below to set up your McGill Exchange Online account (Email on Office 365) on your portable Android device.

NOTE: Steps may vary slightly depending on the version of Android you are using.

Download and set up the Outlook app for Android

The Outlook app from Microsoft is the recommended way to get your McGill email on Android devices. It is the only app that gives you the full features of Outlook, and supports Two-Factor Authentication, which is required for students, faculty and staff entering McGill as of January 2020.

  1. Go to the Google Play store and download the Microsoft Outlook app.

  2. Once the app is installed you will be prompted to "Get Started".

  3. Enter your McGill email address (first.last@mcgill.ca, first.last@mail.mcgill.ca or first.last@affiliate.mcgill.ca) and click Continue

  4. You will be prompted with the McGill's sign-in page to enter your McGill Username and McGill Password.

  5. Approve the sign in request. To verify your identity, you will either receive a 6-digit sms code, or a popup message (shown below), depending on the options you selected when setting up your Two Factor Authentication for McGill.

  6. When all this is done and the account is created, you should see the screen below, asking if you would like to add another account.
