Change a site "home" page in the WMS

OVERVIEW

Target audience: Site Administrators

Site Administrators can change the home page of a site in the Web Management System (WMS).

Changing the home page:

To change a site's home page, configure the Site Settings:

  1. Sign in to your site using your McGill credentials.
  2. Click Configuration in the site administration menu, then click Site Settings.
  3. In the Front Page section, enter the node number for the Default front page (English) and Default front page (French). To find the node number, refer to the "Nodes IDs" section in Links in the WMS.

  4. Click Save configuration at the bottom of the Site Settings page.

A confirmation message will appear at the top of the screen. If the new home page was previously in a submenu, it is automatically removed from that menu; the previous home page is unpublished.

  5. Go to the site's home page to view the changes.

Note: Any blocks set to be visible only on the <front> page should be displayed properly; similarly, any blocks set to be visible on pages except the <front> page should not be displayed.
