McGill Profiles in the WMS - Enabling the Index & the search box

OVERVIEW

Target audience: Site Administrators, Site Managers

The McGill Profiles Index in the Web Management System (WMS) allows users to search for people alphabetically while the profiles search box allows users a full-text search on profiles content.

In this article:

Enable the Index

  1. Go to Structure > Blocks.
  2. Scroll down to Disabled, click on the down arrow next to McGill Profiles Index and select Top of page.
  3. Click Save blocks.

When enabled, an index will appear at the top of your Profiles List.

The value next to a letter indicates how many profiles under that letter can be found. In the example below, two profiles can be found under the letter “P.”

If a letter does not appear, then there are no profiles being indexed under that letter.

Clicking on a letter will display all profiles indexed under that letter. Generally, a profile will be indexed by the person’s last name. However, some people may want to be indexed under a different name from their last name. In this case, an indexable name can be specified.

Enable the search box

  1. Go to Structure > McGill Profile Field settings.
  2. Click on the Settings tab and select the checkbox to Include the search box on the profiles list page.
  3. Click Save Settings when you are done.

When the search box is enabled it will appear at the top of the Profiles List page.
