Configure Wireless on Chromebook


OVERVIEW

Target audience: McGill students, faculty and staff

This article provides instructions for configuring wireless network access on Chromebook devices.

Follow the steps below to configure your Chromebook laptop/tablet to access McGill's wireless network.

  1. Click the Wifi icon at the bottom right of your Chromebook screen; then click the arrow next to No network.

  2. Select one of the following campus networks, depending on your location:
    • wpa.mcgill.ca (secure WiFi on campus and in residences)  
    • eduroam (reserved for members of the eduroam service - non-McGill users visiting McGill and McGill users visiting another institution)
    • wpa.bus.mcgill.ca (on inter-campus shuttle buses)
    • CUSM-MUHC.MCGILL.CA (in some areas of MUHC (McGill University Health Centre)
      Note: If you do not see this option, and wish to request the installation of a new MUHC wireless access point, please contact MUHC Information Services at 514-934-8484.

  3. On the Join Wi-Fi network screen, fill out the settings as follows:

    Join WiFi


    • EAP method: PEAP
    • Phase 2 authentication: MSCHAPv2
    • Server CA certificate: Do not check
    • Subject Match: leave it empty
    • User certificate: leave as "None installed"
    • Identity: Your McGill Username
    • Password: Your McGill Password
    • Anonymous identity: leave empty
  4. Check the box labeled Save identity and password
  5. Click Connect.
