- Create a Mathworks account and install MATLAB

OVERVIEW

Target audience: McGill faculty, staff, students and researchers

Through a campus-wide license agreement, McGill provides free access to MATLAB and Simulink computation software products, from MathWorks.

In this article:

Before gaining access to the software, you need to create an account on the MathWorks site.

Go to Create a MathWords Account and click on No account? Create one!
Enter your McGill email address in the Email field and click Next.
Create and Confirm a password for your MathWorks account (passwords must be 8-50 characters in length and contain at least one uppercase letter, a lowercase letter and a number). After hitting Next, an email with a verification code will be sent to your email.
IMPORTANT: Be sure to use a password that is different from your McGill Password.
Input the verification code you received by email, check the box to agree to the terms and conditions, and hit Next.
You will then be prompted to enter additional details. Please select a Location and type of user that best describes you.

On the Downloads page, you will find the latest version available for your operating system to click and it should start downloading. It may take a few minutes for your license to be assigned if your account is new and it is suggested to refresh or click again on Downloads.
Upon opening the installer, you may be prompted by your operating system to allow the installation.
You will then be prompted to enter your McGill email.
Be sure to sign in with the same password you created for your MathWorks account.
Choose Yes to agree to the Software License Agreement, and click Next.
On the License Selection page, choose the stand alone version for license for 521249 and click Next.
Choose the folder where you wish the installation to take place on your computer then click Next.
Keep all boxes checked to install all the product components.
You may be prompted to add a shortcut to your desktop and to allow sending user experience information to MathWorks (both optional).
Click Begin Install to start the setup. This may take a few minutes.
