Release secure print jobs from a Xerox Altalink C8135, C8155 or C8170


OVERVIEW

Target audience: Entire McGill community

This article explains how to release print jobs from a Xerox Altalink C8135, C8155 or C8170 device for different users using the Print Release feature.

In this article:

Use the Print Release feature to release secure print jobs belonging to you.

After you send the job for printing, it is held at the printer (for 72 hours), until you access the print release menu.

When the jobs are released, they are processed and charged.

Use the print release feature for:

Faculty, Staff, Casual Staff, uPrint Shared Account users

Faculty, Staff, Casual Staff, uPrint Shared Account users can release print jobs at any uPrint device on campus.

  1. From the printer control panel, tap Print Release.

    If you are charging the copies to a FOAPAL other than your default FOAPAL, you will see all your FOAPALs listed (Please note: The FOAPALs are listed in alphabetical order of the fund description. Your default FOAPAL will not necessarily be highlighted). Select the one you wish to use.

  2. Select a job you wish to print.
    • Select a job: to confirm that the cost and number of pages is accurate.
    • Delete: select a job to delete it. Jobs stay in your print job list for 72 hours (if not deleted manually).
    • Print All: print all the jobs belonging to you. This list may include jobs that you may not want (accidentally sent to the queue, etc.), so be sure and check the job list before using this function.

If you use McGill’s VPN, you can also send jobs to McGill's central print queue from home and then release them on campus.


Students

Students can release print jobs at any uPrint device on campus.

  1. From the printer control panel, tap Print Release.

  2. Select the job you wish to print and press Print.
    • You can confirm that the cost and number of pages is accurate.
      Note: Price shown doesn’t include taxes. Taxes charged will appear on your
      e-bill. 
    • Delete: select a job to delete it. Jobs stay in your print job list for 72 hours (if not deleted manually).
    • Print All: print all the jobs belonging to you. This list may include jobs that you may not want (accidentally sent to the queue, etc.), so be sure and check the job list before using this function.

Guests

Guests can release print jobs using their uPrint Prepaid Guest Card at any uPrint device on campus.

  1. From the printer control panel, tap Print Release.

  2. Select the job you wish to print.
    • Press Print.
    • Delete: select a job to delete it. Jobs stay in your print job list for 72 hours (if not deleted manually).
    • Print All: print all the jobs belonging to you. This list may include jobs that you may not want (accidentally sent to the queue, etc.), so be sure and check the job list before using this function.
