Scan to email using a Xerox Altalink C8135, C8155 or C8170

Find instructions on how to use the scan to email feature of the Xerox Altalink C8135, C8155 or C8170 device.

Using the Email feature

  1. Load documents face-up in the document feeder or face-down in the top left-hand corner on the plate glass.
  2. From the printer control panel, tap Email.

  3. The To: field will display your McGill email address by default. If you are logged in with a Resource account or Prepaid card, you will need to change the To: field to an appropriate email address.

    Note: You can always click on the  email address or recipient name and choose to Edit or Remove it.

  4. To email the scan to others, press Add Recipient, enter their email address, then press Add. Use the Address Book to find McGill students, staff or faculty members.
  5. Press Close once you have added recipient(s).
  6. To send the scan by email, tap Send.
  7. The scan will be sent once the device returns to the Email screen.

Scan more than one page at a time from the plate glass

If you need to scan a book or other multi-page documents that cannot be loaded into the document feeder, you can use the Build Job option.

  1. From the touch screen keypad scroll to select Build Job.
  2. Place the document on the document glass and tap Scan.
  3. Repeat this step for every page you want to scan, keeping in mind that there is a maximum file size of 10 MB per email.
  4. To finish, tap Submit.

Your scan will now be sent by email.

Press the Home button to return to the main menu.

To log out, tap your name on the top left corner.
