Best practices for file and password credential storage

File storage

When your display screen is activated, IT Services will provide you with a display template document and log in credentials for your sign (IP address, username, and password).

Your display document should be stored in a shared drive accessible to any members of your team who will need editing access.

NOTE: BrightAuthor cannot access files that are stored on SharePoint; please use the shared drives instead. While it is possible for BrightAuthor to access a file stored on an individual computer, this is not recommended for data security and risk management reasons.

This shared folder is also where you will store the images and videos displayed on your sign. It is recommended to set up an “Old images” or “Archive” subfolder within this folder for convenient file archiving.

Password credential storage

Your display screen's log in credentials must be stored in a secure manner and shared only with those who have editing privileges for the display screen. If these credentials were to be found by a hacker, they could be used to publish inappropriate, harassing, or obscene images to your display screen. Please exercise appropriate caution and store your display screen's log in credentials with care.
