Service overview
We are transitioning to a new Student Admissions system which allows prospective students to complete and submit applications to programs at McGill, and allows admissions officers and departmental coordinators to review and manage those applications. Currently applications to all Undergraduate, Graduate Studies, and Post-Graduate Dentistry are using this system. School of Continuing Studies is also using this system for admissions to credit programs Summer 2025 term forward.
The system supports the following features:
Applicants:

- Complete profile information, including personal information, contacts, education history including GPA.
- Receive automated communications to help guide them during the process
- Upload media files (audio and video) for music applications
- Upload unofficial transcripts and other required documents
- Complete referees contact information and update if necessary
- Submit applications to graduate programs, and track the progress of their application reviews online
- Pay application fees and tuition deposit when required
- Accept an offer of admission, or request to defer an offer of admission to a future term

- Complete a form to answer department/program-specific questions to support the applicant
- Recommend an applicant to a program by writing reference letter statements OR
- Upload a letter of reference as a PDF document via the secure online Student Admissions system

How to request & access the service
Applicants:
- You need to create a new account by clicking the "Create a new account" link on the login page https://future.mcgill.ca/apply.
- You will log into the system using the username and password you set up with your account.
Administrative and support staff including McGill faculty and GR departments:
- Administrative and support staff need to request access by submitting a SIS authorization form https://www.mcgill.ca/es/sis-authorization-form
- Training is mandatory for administrative roles (GPC-GPD-AO) to get access to Slate
- McGill faculty and departments staff members who have the roles of academic staff or program coordinators will see all applications submitted to their department.

Academic Reviewers:
A list of reviewers will be submitted by the departments or faculty admission offices to Enrolment Services System team and they will create users with the required accesses.
Academic reviewers have to be granted access using the sis-security webform. The GPC/GPD of the department should submit the webform on their behalf, through

There is no cost associated with this service.

Availability
The service is available 24 X 7, except during scheduled and unscheduled maintenance.

Best practices & policies
- Always log out of the application when you are finished using it.
- Never leave your computer unattended while you are logged in.
- Never share your ID and password with anyone.
- Never use a wireless Internet zone in commercial areas because your information can easily be captured by malicious people.

Online training for McGill staff is available on myCourses:
- SLT100 for GPCs and GPDs Graduate and Postdoctoral studies
- SLT120 for Medicine and Dentistry
- SLT130 for School of Continuing Studies
- SLT140 for Undergraduate Admissions and School of Music
Registration for SLT courses is through Minerva. The SLT training courses cover general navigation and how to review applications in Slate for different programs.
