Addressing Synchronization Issues

In some rare circumstances, you may notice that the synchronization between the local copy of OneDrive on your computer and its copy on the web does not properly synchronize. When it is the case, follow these steps to reset OneDrive.

This will not delete any of your data. It will simply reset the OneDrive cache and enable a brand new synchronization.

Reset OneDrive on Windows PC:

  1. Press the Windows key + R on your keyboard to open the Run dialog box.
  2. In the Run window, type the following command %localappdata%\Microsoft\OneDrive\OneDrive.exe /reset and press Enter to execute it.

The OneDrive reset may take a few minutes depending on the size of your OneDrive.

Reset OneDrive on a Mac:

  1. Quit OneDrive: Click the OneDrive icon in the menu bar, then click the three dots (...) to open more options and select Quit OneDrive.
  2. Open Terminal: You can find Terminal in the Utilities folder, which is inside the Applications folder. Alternatively, you can use Spotlight by pressing Command (?) + Space and typing Terminal.
  3. Reset OneDrive: In the Terminal window, enter the following command: /Applications/OneDrive.app/Contents/Resources/ResetOneDriveApp.command and press Enter to execute the command.
  4. Relaunch OneDrive: After the reset command completes, start OneDrive from your Applications folder.

Sign in Again: You will need to sign in to your OneDrive account and set up your preferences again. This includes choosing the location for your OneDrive folder and selecting which folders to sync if you're not syncing everything.

By following these steps and addressing synchronization issues, you can efficiently copy content from OneDrive to SharePoint while ensuring data integrity and accessibility within our organization's Microsoft environment.
