WMS: Global vs layout blocks

The purpose of this article is to provide a definition of and information about Global blocks and Layout blocks in the WMS. See our knowledge base for instructions on how to create and place a Global block or a Layout block.

Global Blocks

Global blocks are containers of content that can be placed on multiple pages of your website.

Blocks are placed in Regions which will indicate where they appear in relation to your page (Highlighted, Top of page, Top of content, Bottom of content, or Bottom of page)

Blocks are set to third, half or full width size.

Use Global blocks when you need to:


Layout blocks

Once you have created your block, you will need to configure it to one or more page(s) and select the region or regions in which it will display.

Layout blocks are containers of content that are created on individual basic pages. They appear only on one page.

Blocks can be configured precisely using Layout Builder.
