OVERVIEW

Target audience: Site Administrators, Site Managers

This article describes advanced administrative options in the WMS. Site administrators can set the site's Front Page (homepage), as well as set the site title, and site slogan.

This article also describes elements of the site header on sites that belong to the McGill Web Management System (WMS). The standard WMS header helps ensure a consistent experience for visitors, regardless of which site they find themselves on.

Non-editable elements

McGill logo

The logo as it appears on the WMS header (comprised of a shield and wordmark) is called the signature (see McGill Visual Identity Guide).

The logo must always appear on the header, except in exceptional cases when McGill has partnered with outside organizations (sites with reduced branding approved on a case by case basis, and sites with secondary branding as part of a legal agreement between the University and another party).

Search bar

When clicked, the search bar expands to accommodate longer or multiple search terms. The user is then brought to a search results page that can display matches from all WMS-wide pages. Language toggle.

The language toggle

(It appears as a Fr on English web pages and En on French web pages) will be present in the header if a translation of a page exists. If you have an English homepage but unpublish or remove the default "Accueil" page, the language toggle Fr will not be visible on your homepage.
