WMS: Create an article and enable the articles block


OVERVIEW

Target audience: Site Administrators, Site Managers

Use articles in the Web Management System (WMS) to create magazine or blog post-like content with author, date, and the option to add categories and tags.

NOTE: this article refers to a process to be used on sites that have already migrated to the New WMS.

Create an article

  1. Click Content.
  2. Click Add content.
  3. Click Article.
  4. Enter the text and add the media content. Required fields are indicated with a red asterisk *.
    • Optionally: add keywords and categories.
    • Optionally: add Original Author if the writer is not the person building the article in the WMS.
  5. Configure your article using optional publishing options on the right side of the screen. E.g.,
    1. Customize publishing date. This allows you to choose a publish date and time in the past or future. This option will not auto-publish an article set to a future date. Scheduling options provides this functionality: WMS: Configuration options
    2. Add a menu link.
    3. Schedule publication for a future date.
  6. From the dropdown menu Save as,
    • select Draft (not published), Published, or Unpublished (previously published, no longer published) page.
  7. Click Save.


Enable an articles block

A block to display articles exists that can be configured to display your articles on a page.

To enable the block:

  1. Navigate to Structure > Block Layout.
  2. In the region you would like to place your block click Place Block.
  3. Locate the articles block.
  4. Click Place Block. The configuration screen will open.
  5. Make any desired configuration changes.
  6. Add the node(s) of the page(s) you wish the block to appear on.
  7. Click Save Block.
